The winners of the Music Moves Europe Awards 2023 are Schmyt(Germany), July Jones (Slovenia), Oska (Austria), Kids Return (France) and Queralt Lahoz (Spain). The main prize of the prestigious jury was awarded to Sans Soucis (Italy) and the audience selection prize was won by Jerry Heil (Ukraine).

The EU's annual Popular and Contemporary Music Award, co-funded by the Creative Europe programme, recognises emerging artists representing today's and tomorrow's European compositions. The Music Moves Europe awards ceremony was held on 19 January in Gröningen (NL) as part of the ESNS showcase festival and conference. Past awardees include Rosalía, Dua Lipa, Stromae, Hozier, Meskerem Man, Blanks, Pale Waves, and Christine and the Queens.

 

The Music Moves EuropeAwards are organised by ESNS and Reeperbahn Festival, supported by Liveurope, Yourope, Live DMA, IMPALA, Digital Music Europe, ICMP-CIEM, International MusicManagers Forum (IMMF) and European Music Exporters Exchange (EMEE).

Prize package:
Of the 15 nominees
, five MusicMoves Europe Award winners will receive €10,000 each. The winner of the grand jury prize will receive 10,000 euros and a green tour coupon worth 5000 euros. The winner of the Audience Selection Award will receive 5000 euros and a Deezer session. All fifteen nominees were invited to a training program that showcases best practices in the music industry to strengthen their knowledge for careers.

ESNS presentations and artist education

After the award ceremony, everyone will perform in front of ESNS music professionals and enthusiasts at the world's largest European music event. In addition to the 2023 nominees, 2022 winners Blanks (NL), Francis of Delirium (LU) and Alina Pash (UA) will perform at ESNS. In addition, a training and professionalization event was organized for the 2022 and 2023 MME Award nominees and their representatives. In this program, participants receive training to improve their daily activities. Topics include sustainability (how to organise a CO2-friendly exhibition or tour).

 

Members of the jury

The jury for the Music Moves Europe 2023 award consists of five experts from the music industry. Each year, the winner of the previous year's public selection joins the jury of the MME Awards. This year, jacqueline Baghdasaryan, the lead singer of Armenian artist Ladaniva, who won the MME Public Choice Award last year, will take the place. The other members of the jury are: Cindy Castillo (MadCoolfestival), Gemma Bradley (BBC radio), Bryan Johnson (Spotify) and Kevin Cole (KEXP).
